Οι Άγιοι Στάχυς, Απελλής, Αμπλίας, Ουρβανός, και Νάρκισσος οι Απόστολοι εκ των 70

 

Και   οι   πέντε   άνηκαν   στους   εβδομήκοντα   Αποστόλους   του   Κυρίου. Και  όλοι   τους   υπήρξαν   «Χριστού   ευωδία   τω   Θεώ  εν  τοις σωζομένοις».  Δηλαδή  ευωδία   Χριστού,  ευχάριστη   στο   Θεό,  και   ευωδία  μεταξύ  των  σῳζόμενων  που  άκουγαν   απ’ αυτούς  το  σωτήριο μήνυμα   του   Ευαγγελίου.

Ο   Στάχυς,  έγινε  πρώτος  επίσκοπος  Βυζαντίου,  και  αφού  διάνυσε  16 χρόνια  στο  αποστολικό   κήρυγμα,  ειρηνικά  αναπαύθηκε   εν  Κυρίω.

ο Απελλής έγινε επίσκοπος Ηράκλειας και πολλούς έφερε στην χριστιανική   πίστη.

Ο   Αμπλίας   έγινε   επίσκοπος Οδυσουπόλεως και ο Ουρβανός, επίσκοπος Μακεδονίας. Επειδή και οι δυό γκρέμιζαν τα είδωλα, θανατώθηκαν   μαρτυρικά.    
Ο   Νάρκισσος   χειροτονήθηκε   επίσκοπος   Αθηνών.  Η   ἀλήθεια,   όμως, του   Ευαγγελίου,   την οποία δίδασκε με ζήλο, εξήγειρε τους ειδωλολάτρες,   με   αποτέλεσμα   να  τον  βασανίσουν  και   να παραδώσει   την   ψυχή   του   μαρτυρικά.

Την   κιθάραν  του  Πνεύματος   την   εξάχορδον,  την μελῳδήσασαν  κόσμω  τας   υπέρ   νουν δωρεάς, ως εκφάντορας Χριστού ανευφημήσωμεν,   Στάχυν   Αμπλίαν  Απελλήν   συν Ναρκίσσω  Ουρβανόν, και Αριστόβουλον άμα· ως γαρ Απόστολοι θείοι, χάριν αιτούνται   ταις   ψυχαίς   ημών.

Ως   ιερά   κειμήλια,  του  Παναγίου  Πνεύματος,  και  του  Ηλίου   της δόξης   αυγάσματα,  χρεωστικώς  υμνήσωμεν,  τους  σοφούς   Αποστόλους, Απελλήν  Ουρβανόν τε και  Αριστόβουλον, Αμπλίαν  Νάρκισσον   και  Στάχυν,  ούς   η  χάρις  συνήγαγε  του   Θεού  ημών.

 

Μεγαλυνάριον.
Δήμος Αποστόλων θεοφεγγής, Νάρκισσος Αμπλίας, Αριστόβουλος Ουρβανός, Απελλής και  Στάχυς, ανέτειλαν  ως  άστρα·  δεύτε  ούν  και θαλφθώμεν,  τούτων  τη   χάριτι.

 

Saints Stachys, Apellis, Amblias, Urbanos, and Narcissus the Apostles of the 70

 

 

All five belonged to the seventy Apostles of the Lord. And all of them were "the fragrance of Christ to God among the saved". That is, Christ's fragrance, pleasing to God, and fragrance among the living who heard from them the saving message of the Gospel.

Stachys became the first bishop of Byzantium, and after spending 16 years in apostolic preaching, he peacefully rested in the Lord.

Apellis became bishop of Heraklion and brought many to the Christian faith.

Amblias became bishop of Odyssoupolis and Urvanos, bishop of Macedonia. Because both of them were breaking down the idols, they were martyred.

Narcissus was ordained bishop of Athens. However, the truth of the Gospel, which he taught with zeal, proclaimed the pagans, as a result of which they tortured him and he surrendered his soul as a martyr.
