Ο Άγιος Κλεόπας ο Απόστολος εκ των 70

 

Ο   Κλεόπας   ήταν   ένας   από   τους   70   μαθητές   του   Κυρίου.   Γι’ αυτόν   διαβάζουμε   στο   κατά   Λουκάν   Ευαγγέλιον   κδ’   18 – 27: 

 

18  Αποκριθείς δε   ο   είς,   ώ   όνομα   Κλεόπας,   είπε   προς   αυτόν· συ   μόνος παροικείς   εν   Ιερουσαλήμ   και   ουκ   έγνως   τα   γενόμενα   εν αυτή  εν   ταις  ημέραις   ταύταις;

19 Και  είπεν αυτοίς· ποία; οι δε   είπον αυτώ· τα περί  Ιησοῦ  του Ναζωραίου,   ός   εγένετο   ανήρ προφήτης δυνατός   εν   έργω   και  λόγω  εναντίον   του    Θεού   και   παντός   του   λαού,

20 όπως   τε   παρέδωκαν   αυτόν   οι   αρχιερείς   και   οι   άρχοντες    ημών εις   κρίμα   θανάτου   και    εσταύρωσαν   αυτόν.

21 Ημείς δε   ηλπίζομεν   ότι αυτός  εστιν   ο  μέλλων  λυτρούσθαι  τον Ισραήλ·  αλλά  γε συν πάσι  τούτοις  τρίτην  ταύτην   ημέραν  άγει σήμερον  αφ᾿ ού   ταύτα   εγένετο.

22 Αλλά    και   γυναίκες   τινες   εξ ημών   εξέστησαν  ημάς γενόμεναι  όρθριαι   επί   το   μνημείον,

23 και  μη  ευρούσαι το σώμα αυτού   ήλθον λέγουσαι και  οπτασίαν  αγγέλων   εωρακέναι,  οί   λέγουσιν   αυτόν   ζήν.

24 Και   απήλθον   τινες  των   συν   ημίν   επί   το   μνημείον,   και   εύρον ούτω    καθώς   και    αι    γυναίκες   είπον,   αυτόν   δε   ουκ   είδον.

25 Και  αυτός είπε προς αυτούς·   ω    ανόητοι   και   βραδείς   τη   καρδία   του   πιστεύειν   επί   πάσιν  οίς   ελάλησαν  οι   προφήται!

26 Ουχί    ταύτα   έδει  παθείν τον Χριστόν και εισελθείν εις την δόξαν αυτού;

27 Και  αρξάμενος  από  Μωυσέως και  από πάντων των προφητών διηρμήνευεν   αυτοίς   εν   πάσαις   ταις   γραφαίς   τα   περί    εαυτού.

28 Και    ήγγισαν εις την κώμηνού   επορεύοντο, και  αυτός προσεποιείτο   πορρωτέρω   πορεύεσθαι·           
29 και  παρεβιάσαντο αυτόν λέγοντες· μείνον  μεθ᾿ ημών,  ότι προς εσπέραν   εστι   και   κέκλικεν   η   ημέρα.   Και    εισήλθε    του    μείναι   συν   αυτοίς.

 

Ο   Κλεόπας,   έλαβε   κατά   την   ημέρα   της    Πεντηκοστής   τα χαρίσματα    του   Αγίου Πνεύματος  και  πέρασε την   ζωή  του  κοπιάζοντας   για   το   Ευαγγέλιο.

Απολυτίκιον.   Ήχος   γ’.  Θείας   πίστεως.   
Γνώσιν ένθεον, εισδεδεγμένος, συναρίθμιος, των του Σωτήρος, Αποστόλων  Εβδομήκοντα  πέφηνας,  και   ευσεβείας   την  χάριν εκήρυξας,   τοις  εν   τη   πλάνη   Κλεόπα  Απόστολε.   Αλλά   πρέσβευε, Κυρίω   τω   σε  δοξάσαντι,   δωρήσασθαι   ημίν   το   μέγα   έλεος.

Κοντάκιον.   Ήχος   α’.   Χορός    Αγγελικός.           
Ως θείος Μαθητής, και Χριστού  υπηρέτης, δογμάτων ευσεβών, υποφήτης   εδείχθης,  Κλεόπα   Απόστολε,  Αποστόλων   ομόσκηνε·  μεθ’ ών πρέσβευε, τω   Παντοκράτορι   Λόγω,  τοις   αινούσί   σε, λύσιν πταισμάτων   δοθήναι,   και   χάριν   και    έλεος.

Μεγαλυνάριον.
Μύστης   του  Σωτήρος  ανεδείχθης, διέπρεψας   κόσμῳ, ως  Απόστολος   ευκλεής,  Κλεόπα   τρισμάκαρ,   και  νυν  Αποστόλοις,  τα   έπαθλα   κομίζῃ,   των   παλαισμάτων   σου.

 

Saint Cleopas the Apostle of the 70

 

 

Cleopas was one of the Lord's 70 disciples. For him we read in the Gospel according to Luke 18-27:

 

18 And you answering, O name Cleopas, said to him: do you alone dwell in Jerusalem and do not do the things that happened in it in those days?

19 And he said to them: who? And they said to him: concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who became a prophet mighty in deed and word against God and all the people,

20 as the chief priests and our rulers handed him over to the penalty of death and crucified him.

21 And we hope that this is the one who will redeem Israel in the future, but this is the third day since these things happened.

22 But also your women of ours, who were born to us, were raised upright on the monument,

23 and you do not find his body, he came, you say, and apparitions of angels are enlightened, who say that he is alive.

24 And those who were with us went to the monument, and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see him.

25 And he said to them: O foolish and slow-witted ones, his heart believes everything the prophets have spoken!

26 Do not these see Christ suffer and enter into his glory?

27 And starting from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them in all the scriptures the things about himself.

28 And they approached the common merchant, and he pretended to go further;

29 and they encroached upon him, saying: stay with us, for it is near evening and the day is breaking. And he came in with them.

 

Cleopas received the gifts of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost and spent his life laboring for the Gospel.

 

 

Absolutely. Sound c. Of divine faith.

They know God, accepted, numbered, of the Saviour, the Seventy-year-old Apostles, and of piety, the grace of preaching, to those in error, Cleopas the Apostle. But he said, Lord, glorify you, grant us the great mercy.

As a divine Disciple, and Christ's servant, of pious doctrines, a follower, you showed yourself, Cleopas the Apostle, fellow-Apostles; with them he represented, to the Almighty God, the anointed ones, the solution of sins is given, and grace and mercy.

 

 

Megalynarion.

You were revealed as the secret of the Savior, you excelled in the world, as a pure Apostle, Cleopas trismakar, and now Apostles, reaping the rewards of your struggles.
