Ο Όσιος Δαμιανός εκ Γεωργίας

 

Ο  Όσιος  Δαμιανός,  κατά  κόσμον  Δημήτριος,  ήταν  βασιλέας  των  Γεωργιανών  (1125)  και  υιός  του  βασιλέα  Δαβίδ  Β’ του  Ισχυρού  ή Επανορθωτού   (1089 – 1124).   Έζησε    κατά    τον    11^ο    και    12^ο   αιώνα    μ.Χ. και,    αφού   εγκατέλειψε    την    κοσμική  εξουσία,  έγινε  μοναχός,  λαμβάνοντας    το    όνομα   Δαμιανός.     
Κοιμήθηκε    με    ειρήνη   το   1156.

 

Saint Damianos from Georgia

 

Saint Damianos, according to Demetrios, was king of the Georgians (1125) and son of King David II the Powerful or the Restored (1089 - 1124). He lived in the 11th and 12th centuries AD. and, after giving up secular power, he became a monk, taking the name Damian.

He slept peacefully in 1156.
