Ο Όσιος Κορνήλιος

 

Ο   Όσιος   Κορνήλιος    του    Παλεοστρόβ    γεννήθηκε    στην    πόλη    Πσκώφ  της   Ρωσίας     και    έζησε    κατά    το    14^ο   και    15^ο   αιώνα    μ.Χ.    Ασκήτεψε  στη    νήσο    Πάλι   της    λίμνης    Ονέγκα,    όπου    ίδρυσε    μοναστική  κοινότητα    και    ανήγειρε    ναό   προς    τιμήν    του   Γενεσίου   της    Θεοτόκου.  Για   μεγαλύτερη    άσκηση    ο    Όσιος   έζησε    μέσα    σε    ένα    σπήλαιο     κοντά    στη    μονή,    όπου    προσευχόταν    αδιάλειπτα.    Εκεί    κοιμήθηκε    με  ειρήνη   το   1420.

 

Saint Cornelius

 

Saint Cornelius of Paleostrov was born in the city of Pskov, Russia, and lived in the 14th and 15th centuries AD. He practiced on the island of Pali on Lake Onega, where he founded a monastic community and erected a temple in honor of the Birth of the Virgin. For more exercise, Hosios lived in a cave near the monastery, where he prayed incessantly. There he slept in peace in 1420.
